Modernform Group Public Company Limited (MODERN) has won a total of 21 prestigious global design awards from nine international design bodies bestowed to its nine products during 2020 and now. The nine awards are: the Red Dot Design Award from Germany; the GOOD DESIGN Award from the US; the GOLDEN PIN DESIGN Award from Taiwan; the SKY DESIGN Award from Japan; the DNA PARIS DESIGN Award from France; the EUROPEAN PRODUCT DESIGN Award from Hungary; the iF DESIGN AWARD from Germany; the SIT Furniture Design Award from Switzerland; International Design Awards ( IDA) from US and the Design Excellence Award from DEmark.

Sustainable Design

All Modernform awarded products have been created under the sustainable design concept aimed to respond to every day’s living lifestyles while expressing environmental responsibility, which leads to designs that focus on adequacy and versatility where attention is paid to every detail. This is then translated into necessary materials and production processes required to be incorporated in the products while ensuring that they are elegant in design and versatile in use. These awards are one of Modernform’s important indicators that underlines our commitment and dedication to quality both in the designing and manufacturing process to offer furniture that meet global standards to customers.

CHAIN: This is a Sit-or-Stand desk designed to motivate movement between sitting, moving away, walking and standing to encourage a user’s health and wellbeing. The desk has been inspired by flexibility when actually used, which means that CHAIN can either stand alone or be connected as part of coworking space or as a meeting table. The desk is versatile as it can be adjusted to any work environment, helps enhancing efficiency and accommodates current and future demands of a workplace where work can be executed any time any place.

CHAIN has won the following three awards:

The Red Dot Design Award 2020 for design concept from Germany

Two awards from Hungary’s European Product Design Awards 2020, namely,

1. Winner in Design for Society/Design for Society
2. Winner in Office Equipment/ Furnishings/Modules

MORE: This is a multi-purpose chair designed with an aim to use only necessary materials. The design concept behind MORE is to change perspectives and to redefine “value and meaning of aesthetics.”  MORE is a result of such concept as its proportion and necessary materials are expressed through the lightness of its structure, the elegance of its dimensions, the simplicity of its beauty and the adjustability of its size. Yet MORE offers unimaginable comfort thanks to an ergonomic design that accommodates a user’s spine, either while sitting to work or to just relax.

MORE has won the following three awards:

The DNA Paris Design Award 2020, Product design/Furniture & Lighting, France

The Design Excellence Award (DEmark) 2020,  Furniture, from Department of International Trade, Ministry of Commerce, which offers the award to Thai products with great designs.

It was shortlisted in Industrial Design at the SKY Design Awards 2020, Japan

MOTION: A multi-functional stool MOTION is designed to promote physical movement of a user. The design concept is referenced to sitting behaviors and ergonomic principles. MOTION is also created with a sustainable design concept. The stool therefore is made of LLDPE, recycled plastic pellets from industrial waste which are upcycled into a new product. Unlike other recycled-plastic chair, MOTION stands out for its clean design and versatility as both a rest stool and a work chair.

The European Product Design Awards 2020, Design for Society/ Design for Sustainability, Hungary

M.ANY: This is a “side” table which, despite its size, is not small when it comes to actual use. M.ANY is ready to be at your side on any occasion as it can blend in with any lifestyle. It is also light, mobile and require small space. It answers to a next normal lifestyle as it allows everyone to create one’s personal space or to co-live with others. Created under the sustainable design concept, M.ANY is clean in design, fully adjustable and is made of only necessary materials. It has received the following four awards from leading design institutions:

The iF DESIGN AWARD 2022, Home Furniture / Decoration, Germany

The Good Design Awards 2021, Furniture Design, by The Chicago Athenaeum  Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd., USA

The Golden Pin Design Award 2021, Product Design, by the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI), Republic of Taiwan

It was shortlisted in Industrial Design by the SKY Design Awards 2021, Japan.

W.HOLE: This multi-purpose table was born out of a design concept that wanted to connect users, their digital devices, furniture and a useable area together, all of which usually co-exist every day in today’s lifestyle. In addition, the table enables users to change how it will be used to respond to different needs and tastes. With a sustainable design concept behind it, W.HOLE is made of recycled materials discarded from the production process of other furniture, which are then going through an appropriate production process to yield a new elegant and handy piece of furniture. 

W.HOLE has received the following two awards:

The DNA Paris Design Awards 2021, Product Design / Furniture and Lighting, France

MILLION: A set of desk and working chair, MILLION has been designed with a goal to maximize space. The set can be combined with a diverse range of smart gadgets while saving space thanks to its right size and design details to respond to today’s lifestyle needs whether for work or pleasure. The chair, while eye-catching, comes with flexibility to accommodate different types of body for maximum comfort and relaxation.

MILLION has won the following two awards:

The SIT Furniture Design Award 2021, Furniture Design - Home Office Furniture, Switzerland

The Honorable Mention from the European Product Design Awards 2021, Office Equipment/Furnishings/Modules, Hungary

FABIAN&CO: This is a duo born out of a design concept to turn an excess into a new piece of furniture destined for use in a new context under the principle of upcycling for sustainability.

FABIAN: A working chair with ergonomic design that takes into consideration sustainability and environmental accountability where unnecessary parts are trimmed and turned into a new function.

&CO: This is a new chair born out of excess being “trimmed” from the original structure of its duo, FABIAN. The excess is in turn “upcycled” into a multi-purpose piece of furniture where it can be used as an extra chair, a leg rest or even a side table depending on the need.

FABIAN&CO has won the Honorable Mention from the SIT Furniture Design Award 2021, Furniture Design, Switzerland.

MATE: This is a multi-purpose stool that is there to fulfil diverse needs of a user. MATE acts as a friend who is eager to be at your side, helps solving mundane hiccup, increases flexibility and invites relaxation to your place as it can be used as a stool to sit and rest, while wearing shoes, playing the guitar and even for resting it.  With its sustainable design concept, MATE’s look is simple and clean and yet it is built with materials that properly serve every function it is designed to become.

The Reddot Design Award

This is the global award that has been founded for more than six decades from Germany. It’s one of the greatest awards that has been most recognized by the design industry around the world. The Reddot Design Award is given to excellent designs by a committee of design experts. Each year, more than 18,000 designs from leading designers and design companies in more than 70 countries around the globe are submitted to the event.

The iF Design Award

This is another long-established award from Germany whose history can be traced back to more than 70 years ago. It’s one of the most prestigious and recognized awards at the global arena. Each year, more than 10,000 products from 60 countries around the world are submitted for recognition by a committee of 70-90 designers who come from all corners of the globe to select excellent designs that express innovation, creativity and design leadership.

The European Product Design Award

This award recognizes designer’s creativity. The award is given to designs that show off their commitment to design development and product versatility which enhances every day’s living quality. The award, when given, aims to create awareness in product and industrial designs from around the world mainly among users in the Eurozone.

The Design Excellence Award (DEmark)

DEmark assures Thai and foreign consumers of excellent quality and design of awarded Thai brands. The DEmark award underlines the production, usage and design concepts behind Thai products. The award offers an opportunity for Thai designers to show off their creativity and talent. The award itself is bestowed by Department of International Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Thailand, with support from public and private sectors of Japan.

The DNA Paris Design Awards

This design award from France is given to international architects and designers who strive to give birth to new innovations which are not only elegant but also fully functional in modern lifestyles.

The Sky Design Awards

This Japanese design awards celebrate design excellence that renders both values and uniqueness to the design industry. The award is open to all international designers to showcase their creativity and design in order to enhance product development and establish recognition at the global level.

The Good Design Award

A prestigious award from the US, the Good Design Award is one of the awards with the longest history in the world. It was founded in 1950 by Charles and Ray Eames, two legendary architects, together with a handful of other world-renowned architects and designers at the time. The Good Design Award’s goal is to create awareness in contemporary designs and honor designs and designers who help introducing innovations and thereby stirring development and competition globally.

The Golden Pin Design Awards

This award from Taiwan is known to command the most recognition and the highest influence within Chinese-language markets. The award has been established for more than 40 years and targets products and design projects that express innovative creation. This is one of the awards that keep attracting talented designers from around the world. The awards are bestowed by a committee consisting of experts in the industrial design circle. The event prides itself for clear and fair judging criteria.

The SIT Furniture Design Award™

This is an international award from Switzerland given to outstanding furniture designers who, through their creativity, innovative visions and ability to respond to user’s eclectic needs, are honored and recognized by wider audiences.


The International Design Awards (IDA)
This award from the US is exists to recognize, celebrate and promote exceptional design visionaries and discover emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic and Fashion Design worldwide.
