Product Responsibility Project Towards Sustainable Production
Modernform is committed to delivering furniture innovations that enhance the quality of life for users in the era of Hybrid Work & Living. Our new flagship collection, “ORBIX,” is built upon sustainability principles across all dimensions, including material selection, production processes, and actual usage. The development of this product line focuses on maximizing resource efficiency and minimizing environmental impact, while creating long-term value for both the organization and society through Modular & Adaptive Design that supports continuous use and future adjustments.
Policies and Targets
Modernform aims to develop furniture as a sustainable solution throughout the Product Lifecycle. We prioritize reducing environmental impact from the design stage to accommodate current work patterns and future transitions. This includes selecting materials, production processes, and transportation methods that reflect durability, ease of maintenance, and the ability to be upgraded to extend the product’s lifespan. These efforts reduce resource consumption and production waste, while supporting maximum energy and space efficiency.
Furthermore, the Company prioritizes the health, safety, and well-being of users by promoting ergonomic work postures, movement during the day, and adaptable work environments. This supports a healthy work-life balance and enhances overall organizational productivity.
Operational Guidelines
- Study user behavior and work patterns in modern workspaces to understand needs regarding comfort, safety, collaboration, and work efficiency. This information serves as a vital foundation for designing furniture that meets real-world requirements and ensures long-term durability, while considering environmental and health impacts.
- Develop products based on Modular Design principles and the use of standardized components and structures. This increases flexibility, allowing users to adjust configurations to suit changing work environments, thereby reducing the cost of change and minimizing new waste generation.
- Prioritize user well-being by promoting movement through furniture that supports various postures, including sitting, leaning, and standing. Features such as mobile furniture encourage movement during the day and reduce fatigue. Products are designed for Activity-Based Working, allowing users to choose settings that suit their tasks. Additionally, Biophilic Design is integrated to connect users with nature, promoting physical and mental well-being through the workspace.
- Support seamless work and enhance sustainability by studying and designing systems for Smart Integration (IoT), such as desk and meeting room booking systems and wireless charging. These features control energy use, reduce unnecessary electricity consumption, and maximize office space utilization for long-term sustainability.
- Implement meticulous production planning to emphasize the reduction of material waste and the enhancement of resource efficiency. This includes designing components for maximum utility, minimizing material scraps, and adopting designs that allow for part replacement to extend product lifespan. The Company prioritizes selecting materials with circular components, such as Acoustic Screens made from Recycled PET (rPET) derived from used plastic water bottles. These screens can reduce noise by up to 60%, improving the work environment while repurposing plastic waste. Furthermore, packaging is designed to be compact for efficient transportation, enabling self-assembly by users to reduce energy consumption and the carbon footprint associated with logistics.
- Conduct testing and evaluation of production and usage, closely monitoring results at every stage. Data is used to refine products to ensure they are high-quality, durable, and provide a positive experience, reinforcing the Company’s commitment to creating sustainable innovations that promote quality of life.
- Communicate and market the products to educate users about new work concepts. Products are showcased through digital platforms and in showrooms to allow users to experience and acknowledge furniture designed under the sustainability concept, fostering wider acceptance.
