Modernform recently joined hands with Zwilling, Germany’s leading kitchenware brand, to organize a special Chef Table event where customers were served a sumptuous meal created by MasterChef’s Dr Dissakul "Chef Tum" Prasitruangsuk at Modernform Forty 9 Lifestyle Community Mall at Sukhumvit 49, a favorite venue for furniture and decorating item lovers.

Manasavee Udommongkol, Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Retail Business Development, Modernform Group Public Company Limited, expressed Modernform’s delight to collaborate with Zwilling in this sumptuous event. “The starting point is our understanding that good cooking environment helps enhancing cooking experience. Modernform kitchen is not only elegant but also versatile, durable and truly functional. A right combination between kitchen furniture and kitchenware not only makes cooking more fun but it also adds a really good feeling to one’s cooking,” she said.

The event was held at Modernform Forty 9 showroom to highlight its home-sweet-home feeling, for the showroom is not merely a place where furniture can be bought but rather a destination for customers to be inspired by home decoration items exclusively offered there. It was chosen as a venue for this dinner event to reflect its House of Fulfilled Living concept through exquisite kitchenware and furniture.

Kalayanee Patanakitcharoenkan, Zwilling’s Business Manager, also expressed her delight that Zwilling had successfully co-created the event with Modernform, a quality furniture brand. “For us, a kitchen and kitchenware are something that goes hand in hand. Quality and well-designed kitchenware enhances your kitchen. It can also be home decoration items. Great kitchenware makes everyone happy and joyful when it comes to cooking,” she said. The dinner event held by Modernform and Zwilling was intended to let everyone savor both the food and relaxed yet elegant ambiance of the night.

Dr Dissakul "Chef Tum" Prasitruangsuk elaborated that his fine dining menu had largely been inspired by homemade dishes. On this occasion, raw materials from around the country were sourced to create a four-course dinner based mainly on familiar dishes but with twisted ingredients. The four courses were: (1) yellow curry with egg and cha-om (Acacia) cooked in a shrimp bisque style mixed with curry paste from Thailand’s central area and served with shrimp-based bread with egg and cha-om; (2) salted-fish and kale tortellini with Ricotta Cheese served with Puttanesca sauce; (3) charcoal-grilled porkchop curry served with pumpkin purée and sauce from southern-inspired curry paste, and finally (4) a dessert of fried banana choux mixed with white sesame and fried coconut flakes served with crème diplomat coconut, white sesame crumble and coconut and dried banana ice cream.

“I purposely chose raw materials with strong smell which included shrimp paste and cha-om to test whether Modernform kitchen and Zwilling kitchenware can handle piercing smell well in a closed kitchen environment or not. The result was that they did superbly,” he said.

The kitchen at which Dr Dissakul was cooking contained a powerful hood installed at the foot of kitchen cabinet, which not only enhances the look of the entire kitchen but also functions well with efficiency. Its electric stoves are easy to use and hot quickly while controlling temperature to avoid burning can be done easily. The entire set-up turns cooking into something simple and convenient.

Dr. Linjong Chor. Rojprasert, a Modernform customer, stated that she had brought her friends to become Modernform customer. “Modernform furniture looks really good. Its after-sale service is impeccable thanks to staff’s attention.”

“Today’s activity is really fun. We can feel the team’s passion for this event. I like every menu because each menu does not only involve chef’s cooking but it also represents Chef Tum’s creativity and concerns in healthy eating,” Dr. Linjong said.

For her, a kitchen should not merely be a place to cook. “A kitchen should be a place where everyone in the family can gather and talk comfortably,” she said. For her, talking in a kitchen is unlike talking at a dinner table; nor does it like talking at an office. “Kitchen conversations help de-escalate pressure and reduce violence and strong emotional reactivity. “Everyone realizes that we are in the same house. Regardless our disagreement, there won’t be any winner or loser. Everyone will continue living together, having a dinner together,” she said.  For Dr Linjong, a Thai-style kitchen is not just a place for cooking. It’s a place where mom discusses love with her daughter and parents discuss what they do not want their kids to hear.” Yet Dr Linjong said a kitchen as a place for intimate conversations is now disappearing because of the emergence of modern closed kitchen. Still, she is convinced that if the kitchen is similar to what today’s Chef Tum was using, which was a big island that enabled everyone to walk around, turn to each other and spend time together, then kitchen as a safe place for conversations can resume its role.

“I do not like a kitchen that lines up against the wall because it reduces a mom to be a cook for a family. But if a kitchen enables kids to see their moms cook or taste food the way an old-style kitchen did where I was young where I used to linger around waiting for my aunt and my grandma to finish cooking, where we talked and listened to music together, that is what we want in our home,” she added.

Mr. Chavarat Tassanapanya stated that he had bought Modernform’s office furniture 12 years ago. “Everyone knows Modernform because it’s a top Thai brand. Today, if I plan to buy office furniture, I will look at Modernform first. Right now, its prices are more accessible,” he said.

“Thank you for the invitation to this event. I am impressed. Staff was great and so hospitable. They introduced me to the entire showroom of Modernform Forty 9. I really like the charcoal-grilled porkchop served with southern curry sauce and pumpkin purée. It has every taste – creamy, sweet and hot, all in the same dish.”

For Mr. Chavarat, kitchen and kitchenware are very important. “I love Zwilling’s quality which I had used almost 20 years ago when I studied overseas,” he said. Mr. Chavarat confided that he believed in the quality and materials as well as designs of Zwilling proven to be versatile for cooking purposes. “The bottom line was that it makes your food look good. Great equipment also enhances the taste of your food and its quality,” he added.
